Graston Technique®

Graston Technique® is an advanced form of soft-tissue therapy that combines instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization with rehabilitative exercises to improve function and pain.  At Able Body Health Clinic, practitioners specializing in this technique are chiropractors that have published peer-reviewed research studies on the use of this form of treatment and have instructed other practitioners on its use.

The goal of Graston Technique® is to separate and break down scar tissue, as well as stretch connective tissue and muscle fibers. The technique uses specially-designed, stainless steel instruments in combination with a specialized form of massage. Following tissue mobilization, targeted stretching and strengthening exercises are performed.

Graston Technique® has been found to be effective for acute and chronic injuries and in pre- and post-surgical patients. Originally developed for athletes, it is now used in hospital outpatient facilities, industrial settings, and for sports.
